Authentic Dancing & Drumming as it’s practiced in Africa

Mohamed Kamara was born in the mountains of Gaouval, into a family known for its traditional African drumming and dancing. Mohamed was lead teacher for Chuck Davis' Art Safari, where students from all over the world came to learn about African drum and dance. He is the former artistic director of the African Ballet of Gambia. Currently, Mohamed is an Assistant Professor in the percussion dept at Berklee College of Music in Boston. His performance group, The Spirit of Africa, plays for festivals, schools, museums, and at various cultural events and concert halls. He directs the choreography for the West African dance and musical pieces in “The Art of Black Dance and Music”, working in schools to promote a multicultural program rich in African, Afro-Cuban, Caribbean, and African-American culture. Mohamed also played for the World Trade Organization in Singapore in 1997, and was given the Commonwealth Award by Governor Weld for fostering cultural education in the state of Ma.

The Myth of Aging Series
Feel Younger & Pain Free w/ Somatics
w/ John Loupos, M.S., C.S.E.

Feel Better

If you have pain, stiffness, or discomfort this event is for you! Somatics offers you carefully orchestrated movement patterns that effectively reset the neural circuitry that underlies chronic pain and stiffness. Somatics actually feels good for you (it’s non-competitive & non-jarring) regardless of your physical condition... Somatics doesn’t require exertion and its movements leave you better off after than before... Somatics helps you achieve you ‘smarter muscles’... Somatics will shave years, or even decades, off the way you feel, & it will keep you feeling that way even as you get older.

Somatics will put you more in charge of yourself.

Once each year I offer eastern N.E.’s only Myth of Aging workshop. The 8 simple movement patterns that make up the Myth of Aging series were designed personally by Thomas Hanna Ph.D., founder of Hanna Somatic Education. These 8 core patterns are uniquely designed to reduce the pains and discomforts caused by postural dissonance & habitually tight muscles, & to teach you how to manage your body in order to remain more flexible & pain free, even into old age. So simple they can be learned in a day & practiced by anyone for a lifetime, the Myth of Aging exercises are your ticket to a BETTER YOU!
